GNV Strengthens Its Fleet for Summer 2025 on Routes to Morocco

The Italian shipping companyGNVplans to enhance its fleet forsummer 2025. This enhancement will affect the routes connecting Sète (France) and Barcelona (Spain) to Tanger Med and Nador, as well as those from Genoa and Civitavecchia (Italy) to Tanger Med.

The GNV CRISTAL will be replaced by the EXCELSIOR. The latter will operate the crossings between Sète and Tanger Med, Barcelona and Tanger Med, as well as from Genoa and Civitavecchia to Morocco.

GNV will also deploy the EXCELLENT and MAJESTIC ships to Tanger Med. The FANTASTIC and theGNVATLAS will provide additional rotations. On the Sète-Nador and Barcelona-Nador routes, the FANTASTIC will support the GNV ATLAS to ensure greater regularity.

A More Reliable and Efficient Service

This enhancement aims to improve the reliability and quality of service.Matteo Catani, CEO of GNV, confirmed this commitment during an interview withLe Marin. He emphasized the company’s intention to raise its standards forTanger MedandNador.

In the long term, GNV plans to continue modernizing its fleet. The withdrawal of theGNV ATLASis scheduled for 2026. A new vessel is expected to complement the routes toMorocco.

Modernization and New Services

In parallel, GNV will introduce new services and modernize several ships. The EXCELSIOR, assigned to the routes to Tanger Med, has recently been renovated. It now features a new restaurant, a spa, a video game room, and a cinema. These improvements will also be implemented on the EXCELLENT.

According to an internal source, GNV is making every effort to ensure a smooth summer season in 2025. The company aims to avoid the disruptions and cancellations that marked the summer of 2024.

Continued Criticism of Prices

Despite these improvements, pricing remains a contentious issue. Many travelers, particularly on the Sète-Tanger Med route, are voicing concerns over high prices.
