Morocco emerged as the top African supplier to Cameroon in 2022, according to the latest foreign trade report released recently by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Cameroon.

Imports from African countries account for 12.2% of total import expenditures, the report specifies.

Within this subgroup, Morocco ranks first with a share of 1.4%, followed by Côte d’Ivoire and Gabon, as noted in the report.

According to the same source, the Kingdom exported 319,200 tons of goods to Cameroon in 2022, which is more than three times the exports from the previous year.

This volume, valued at 70.5 billion FCFA, represents 1.4% of Cameroon’s total imports from African countries, it adds.

The volume of goods imported from Morocco surpasses that of Equatorial Guinea (62,900 tons valued at 38 billion FCFA), which held the top position in supplying the Cameroonian market in the region in 2021.

Morocco notably outpaces Côte d’Ivoire (110,000 tons valued at 60.6 billion FCFA) and Gabon (63,100 tons valued at 58 billion FCFA).
