Ferry Jean Nicoli of Corsica Linea Sets Sail from Algiers
Resumption of Activities for the Ferry Jean Nicoli
The ferry “Jean Nicoli” from Corsica Linea has finally returned to sea after being docked for four days in Algiers. This resumption of service took place on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in the late afternoon. The vessel, which arrived in the Algerian capital on November 12, underwent a thorough inspection by local maritime authorities, assisted by Bureau Veritas.
This detention directly impacted several sailings, including the cancellation of the Sète–Béjaïa crossings on November 13 and Béjaïa–Marseille on November 14.
Reorganization of Connections
To mitigate the impact on its passengers, Corsica Linea had to reorganize some of its routes. The Marseille–Tunis crossing, originally scheduled for November 15, has been postponed to November 16. This route will be operated by the vessel Vizzavona.
After departing from Algiers, the “Jean Nicoli” has gradually returned to its regular schedule, with an Alger–Marseille crossing planned for November 19 at 9 AM. The ferry is expected to arrive in Marseille on November 17 in the afternoon, with additional sailings to follow, including Marseille–Algiers on November 25 and a return to Sète on November 26.
Context of Port Inspections
The detention of the “Jean Nicoli” is part of a broader context of increased port inspections in the Mediterranean. This situation is reminiscent of the recent case involving the ferry “Tassili II” from Algeria Ferries, which was also held upon its return to Algiers following an inspection conducted in Marseille.
