Strike at the Port of Marseille: Algeria Ferries Schedule Disrupted

Strikes are officially back in France, this time in the maritime transport sector. The French federation of ports and dockers called for four days of strikes this June and for workers to stop work for a few hours on ten different days to protest the negotiations surrounding the implementation of the pension reform.

The Federation also urges a work stoppage for four hours, specifically between 10 AM and 4 PM, on ten additional days throughout this month of June. In this context, the national maritime company, Algérie Ferries, has issued a new statement announcing changes to its crossing schedule due to this strike action.

Algérie Ferries Announces Disruptions to Its Schedule

In its announcement, the maritime carrier informs its passengers that due to the strike by workers at the port of Marseille, which will take place from June 4 to June 28, 2024, modifications have been made to its schedule for the period from June 6 to June 10, 2024.

Furthermore, the new changes are as follows:

  • The crossing from Algiers to Marseille on June 6, 2024, has been postponed to June 7 at 12:00 PM;
  • The return trip from Marseille to Algiers has been rescheduled to 4:00 PM instead of 12:00 PM;
  • The crossing from Marseille to Skikda, originally scheduled for June 8 at 12:00 PM, has been moved to June 7 at 5:00 PM;
  • The crossing from Skikda to Marseille on June 9, 2024, initially set for 12:00 PM, has been moved to 11:00 AM.

The national maritime passenger transport company apologizes to affected travelers for these disruptions caused by the strike action. Passengers impacted by the aforementioned trips are advised to take necessary precautions.
