  • Via an access channel 3,220 m long, 130 m wide, with a depth of -13.50 m, marked by 9 buoys.
  • Through the dredged entrance channel at -12.50 m, 200 m wide, marked by 2 buoys.

Tides:Semi-diurnal, regular, with a tidal range of 2.45 meters.

  • Low Water Mean Level: -1.60 m

Dominant Winds:

  • Land winds in winter from the West and Northwest.
  • Sea winds in summer from the East and Southeast.

The wind strength varies from 3 to 5 (sometimes 7) on the Beaufort scale.

Infrastructure:

Basin:The water area of the port (80 ha) consists of 2 basins

  • An outer basin of 50 ha, with a depth of -12.5 m.
  • An inner basin of 30 ha, with a depth of -10.5 m.

The turning circle has a diameter of 600 meters.

Berthing structures:

  • West quay with berths 5, 6, and 7, totaling 600 m in length with a depth of -10.05 m (Hydro).
  • North quay with berths 3 and 4, totaling 340 m in length with a depth of -10.05 m (Hydro).
  • South quay with berths 8, 9, and 10, totaling 785 m in length with a depth of -11 m (Hydro).
  • Service quay with a length of 139 m and a depth of -5.00 m.

The commercial port of Gabès offers a total quay length of 1,725 m.

Protection structures:

  • A North jetty 2,880 m long protects the port from waves generated by dominant winds from the North and Northeast.
  • A South jetty 1,460 m long complements the protection against East and Southeast winds.

Storage facilities:

  • Developed land: 25,000 m²
  • Vacant land: 100,000 m²
  • Warehouse and covered hangar: 4,000 m²

Road access:

  • The port is served from the North and South by the RN1, while the RN5 and RN6 connect it to Gafsa and Kébili.
  • Two main gates provide access to the port, and seven secondary gates grant access to the nearby factories.

Rail access:

The North-South line of SNCFT terminates at Gabès. This same line connects to the Sfax-Gafsa line. The grain terminal is served by a railway.
