Six months after asking the government to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the existing shortcomings in maritime transport, the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has urged the government to proceed with the renewal of the national fleet.
Expressing concern that « the Algerian national maritime transport fleet is the target of a conspiracy against the state, » the President deemed it essential to take all necessary measures to « rebuild » it.
At the request of Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Algerian government has been instructed to first implement « a technical reassessment of the vessels comprising the current fleet. » The goal set is to « subsequently prepare its renewal and development plan. »
