DP World Atlas: Maritime Service Morocco-Europe Starting 2025
Good news for Moroccan exporters! DP World announces the launch of a new maritime service called “Atlas”. This service will connect Morocco, the United Kingdom, and Europe, thereby strengthening the export of fresh products. It will reduce delivery times, optimize costs, and improve product quality while decreasing the carbon footprint. For more information on DP World, visit their official site here.
The “Atlas” service will be operational starting November 2025. It will connect the ports of Agadir and Casablanca to DP World’s strategic terminals at London Gateway and Antwerp Gateway. With two dedicated vessels, this service will transfer up to 150,000 tons of fresh products annually. This represents a reduction in CO₂ emissions of about 70% compared to road transport. For more insights on maritime emissions, check out the IMO’s report on maritime transport and climate change.
This logistics solution also avoids the constraints of long road trips, such as traffic jams or border delays. It ensures better preservation of delicate products like tomatoes and blueberries.
To support this service, DP World has invested in a fleet of 1,250 modern refrigerated containers. The company has also acquired 1,000 high cube 40-foot containers and 750 20-foot dry containers. For more details on container types, visit Port Technology.
Thanks to its digital platform CARGOES, DP World offers complete traceability from origin to destination. This ensures transparency and reliability for producers and distributors. The International Chamber of Shipping provides further resources on shipping logistics and traceability.
Morocco exports over 6.5 million tons of fruits and vegetables to Europe each year. The “Atlas” service provides a competitive alternative to road transport, thereby enhancing the resilience and sustainability of supply chains.
Rashid Abdulla, CEO of DP World Europe, emphasized that the solution is based on three pillars: reliability, speed, and a modern IT platform. An official launch will take place on September 18, 2025 in Agadir.
