Good news for large Algerian families living abroad! On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, Deputy Abdelouahab Yagoubi announced a highly anticipated decision: vehicles with more than 7 seats – not intended for export – will officially be allowed to board passenger ferries during the summer of 2025.

This measure directly addresses the strong concerns expressed by the Algerian diaspora following a previous decision that prohibited the boarding of certain types of vehicles, particularly commercial vans and large family vehicles, in an effort to limit commercial use.

From now on, large families will be able to travel to Algeria in their vehicles without facing this restriction. An urgent correspondence has been sent to the main shipping companies operating toAlgeria— includingAlgérie Ferries(ENTMV),Corsica Linea,GNV,Balearia, andNouris El Bahr— for the immediate implementation of this new directive.

Deputy Yagoubi expressed his satisfaction with this advancement, thanking the officials who responded swiftly and with understanding to the expectations of the Algerian community abroad. He also emphasized that he faithfully conveyed the requests of his fellow citizens to the relevant authorities.

As a reminder, at the end of April, a ban was imposed on the export of vehicles (new or less than three years old), vans, and passenger transport vehicles with more than 7 seats. This new decision thus marks a welcome easing, specifically designed to facilitate the summer vacations of Algerian families living in Europe.
