Zarzis: Success of the 2023 Summer Maritime Season

The port of Zarzis welcomed the second crossing of a total of nine scheduled for the current summer season on July 6, 2023.

The ship Carthage arrived from the port of Marseille with 2,129 passengers and 617 cars on board, providing a comfortable and satisfying journey. Travelers appreciated the quality of services and the efficiency of the transit procedures.

This new maritime route for passengers was inaugurated in 2017 and has brought significant commercial momentum to the region.

The services of the Office of Merchant Marine and Ports have made considerable efforts to ensure the success of this investment. They have enhanced the infrastructure by establishing a maritime terminal covering an area of 4.5 hectares. This terminal has the capacity to accommodate 600 cars and is equipped with a hall for processing pedestrian passengers, featuring scanners, as well as a waiting area and a VIP lounge, providing all necessary services.

Additionally, areas have been designated for the rapid processing of passenger vehicles, a preliminary inspection of vehicles, and a thorough search of passenger cars.

The maritime terminal at the port of Zarzis offers a comprehensive range of essential services, including medical, banking, postal, veterinary, agricultural services, as well as administrative control services. Furthermore, it features a refreshment area and a prayer space, ensuring optimal transit conditions.

The port of Zarzis is preparing to welcome its third crossing for this season on July 27.
