In a statement published on its Facebook page, the Algerian Customs General Directorate announced that its services have taken concrete initiatives to assist travelers during the summer season of 2024. These measures specifically aim to ease the passage for members of the Algerian diaspora residing abroad.
To this end, a specialized team from the Skikda Customs Inspection boarded the Algeria Ferries vessel Djazair II to issue the necessary customs passage documents (TPD) for vehicles on board. This initiative helps to reduce delays and simplify the customs clearance process for travelers arriving inAlgeriawith their vehicles. Onboard the ship, the customs team carries out the necessary formalities as soon as passengers embark, thereby minimizing wait times upon arrival.

Specific arrangements have been made for travelers arriving by ferry. Customs teams have been deployed at ports to facilitate border crossings. Customs authorities have also enhanced communication with travelers by providing detailed brochures on customs procedures, available at airports, ports, and border posts. Welcome and orientation services are in place to assist travelers upon their arrival.
Maximum Amount Allowed When Traveling to Algeria
Regarding the transfer of currencies to and from Algeria, the General Customs Controller reminded that travelers can carry up to 1,000 euros without a customs declaration. Exceeding this amount, Algerian legislation stipulates that non-residents (foreigners) can travel with any amount as long as it is declared to customs authorities. For residents (Algerians), the maximum allowed amount is 7,500 euros, with a declaration requirement and a bank statement. Travelers can also carry up to 10,000 Algerian dinars in local currency.
