Algerian Naval Vessel Docked in La Spezia, Italy
Delivered in September 2014 by the Fincantieri shipyard in Muggiano, the Algerian Landing Ship and Logistic Support Vessel (BDSL) Kalaat Béni Abbès returned last week to its builder’s site during a stopover in La Spezia. This visit coincided with the launch on Saturday, June 5, of the construction of a similar vessel ordered by Qatar. The hull, like that of the Algerian BDSL, is being constructed by the Fincantieri shipyard in Riva Trigoso and will then be transferred for completion in Muggiano. Meanwhile, the yard is also producing corvettes and missile-launching patrol vessels for the Qatari Navy. On the same Saturday, the launch ceremony for the patrol vessel Sheraouh took place. Following this event, the Kalaat Béni Abbès, which arrived in La Spezia on June 1, set sail once again. For more information on maritime construction in Italy, visit Fincantieri’s official site.
