“Capu Rossu” will be the name of our second new ship powered by Liquefied Natural Gas.
Nearly 8 months after announcing the order for our second new ship powered by Liquefied Natural Gas, we are revealing the name of our new RoPax, which will be put into service on the Corsican routes starting in the 2026 season. This announcement was made official during the steel-cutting ceremony at the CMI Jinling shipyard, marking another step towards the decarbonization of maritime services in Corsica.
Ordered from Stena RoRo, the construction of this new vessel officially began on September 11, 2024, at the CMI Jinling shipyard in Weihai, China:

Why “Capu ROSSU”?
A name specifically chosen to pay tribute to one of the most beautiful and iconic landscapes of the southern Corsican coastline, located between the Gulf of Porto and the region of Cargèse.
“I am very pleased to present the Capu Rossu, whose name particularly honors the most breathtaking landscapes of the southern Corsican coastline, in this wonderful region situated between the Gulf of Porto and Cargèse,” stated Pierre-Antoine Villanova, General Director of CORSICA linea.
Following A Galeotta, the Capu Rossu will be the second new ship powered by Liquefied Natural Gas to join the CORSICA linea fleet, with delivery expected in March 2026 and entry into service in June 2026. The acquisition of this new vessel represents a significant advancement in the strategic plan of CORSICA linea to achieve a 40% reduction in our CO2 emissions by 2030 and move closer to “net zero” by 2040!
This initiative contributes to the establishment of a decarbonized fleet and will strengthen the deployment of a more environmentally friendly public maritime service for goods and passengers between Corsica and the mainland.
“The decarbonization of CORSICA linea is fully underway. Between 2022 and 2024, we have already reduced our CO2 emissions per nautical mile by 15%,” added Pierre-Antoine Villanova.
This achievement will be recognized alongside others throughout 2025, thanks to the 50 projects launched as part of the company’s environmental transformation plan.
