Every year, thousands of Algerians choose to travel by boat to return to their country and spend their holidays. This influx promptsAlgeria Ferriesto adjust its schedule by adding crossings from France, Italy, andSpain.
For the 2025 season, the company plans to add a new vessel. According to several sources, this will beEl Venizelos, a ferry owned by the Greek companyANEK Lines. The agreement is said to have been signed, and the ship is expected to commence its crossings as early as June.
This would not be the first time. Last year,Algeria Ferrieschartered theMoby Dada, an Italian vessel. Unfortunately, this ferry experienced several technical failures, leading to delays and cancellations of crossings.
Currently,Algeria Ferriesoperates four ships:Badji Mokhtar 3,El Djazaïr 2,Tassili 2, andTariq Ibn Ziyad. The latter is currently undergoing renovations. The Minister of Transport,Said Sayoud, stated that the ship will be ready to set sail again in July.
