To begin with, Algerian customs reminds travelers that if the amount ofcurrency is less than 1,000 euros(5,000 euros for foreigners), national travelers, whether residents or not, are notrequired to declarethis amount to customs authorities.

Furthermore, currency declaration becomes mandatory for amounts equal to or exceeding 1,000 euros for Algerian travelers and equal to or greater than5,000 euros for foreigners. Upon entering the national territory, all travelers are permitted to import currency without a limit on the amount, provided they comply with the customs declaration requirement.

When exiting the national territory, travelers are allowed to carry any amount in foreign banknotes or traveler’s checks:

• For resident travelers: if the value is less thanor equal to 7,500 euros:a bank debit notice is required;
• For non-resident travelers: they must present to national banksa bank receiptconfirming the exchange of part or all of the declared currency amount upon entry into the national territory.
