The drama took place on the night of November 19-20, 2025, between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM. The victim, whose identity has not been revealed, would have suffered a heart attack. It should be noted that no doctor was present on board, as the presence of medical personnel is only required for crossings exceeding 48 hours.

Investigation Opened in Marseille

Upon arrival of the Jean Nicoli at Marseille on November 20, 2025, the French maritime gendarmerie boarded to conduct initial investigations and establish the exact circumstances of this death.
