Despite previous attempts, such as the strategy of redirecting vessels to otherAlgerian ports, congestion remains a significant challenge. In addition to this new organization, the government is strengthening the role of theport of Djen Djen. Recently expanded, it aims to become a strategic hub in the Mediterranean due to its increased draft capacity. It can now accommodate container ships of 6,000 TEUs, up from 2,500 previously.
With these measures, Algeria aims to modernize its port management and optimize maritime logistics, a crucial lever for the country’s economic development.
