Launch of a Maritime Line Sfax-Morocco-Spain-Libya
The economic landscape of Sfax, particularly in the export and import sectors, is set to be enhanced by the launch of a new regular maritime line for container transport from the port of Sfax to Morocco, Spain, and Libya. This was confirmed by Mr. Malik Aloui, the licensed shipping agent for the line, who added that all administrative and logistical formalities are currently in the final phase, in anticipation of the official opening of this line in March. He also emphasized that among the advantages of this line, in addition to competitive rates, is the short duration it will take for the ship to reach these destinations, which is only 4 days to Morocco and 6 days to Spain, with two trips per month departing from Sfax. This development is expected to significantly boost trade in the Maghreb region, as highlighted by the importance of maritime trade and its role in economic growth. Furthermore, the new line aligns with the International Maritime Organization’s goals for enhancing shipping efficiency and connectivity. The Sfax port authority is also working closely with the Moroccan Ministry of Transport to ensure seamless operations and compliance with all regulations.
