GNV More Present Than Ever in Tunisia

With 30 years of experience operating in the Mediterranean and 20 years of activities in Tunisia, the Italian shipping company GNV is making significant efforts to express gratitude to its Tunisian travel partners by organizing a festive evening at the luxurious hotel The Résidence Gammarth.

On this occasion, the company’s leadership traveled to Tunis to share these moments with its partners and to express their thanks, as well as to present GNV’s activities and prospects in Tunisia during a press conference held for this purpose.

In this context, GNV announced that it will maintain the deployment of the ship “Suprema” – the flagship of the GNV fleet – on the Genoa-Tunis route starting June 15.

This massive cruise ship (211.50 meters long and 30.40 meters wide) can accommodate 2,920 passengers. It features 567 cabins, 37 luxury suites, and a garage capable of holding 886 vehicles.

With an average of 250,000 passengers transported annually to and from Tunis, GNV’s target for 2024 is to reach 260,000 passengers, making Tunisia a highly prioritized market.

In terms of passenger numbers, GNV’s results are slightly positive in line with the goals set by the company for 2024. The future appears promising for the company, which aims to strengthen its presence in our country.

Carole Montarsolo, the sales manager for the company in the Tunisia and Morocco markets, proudly stated on this occasion: “GNV is the leader in the passenger transport market from Europe to North Africa,” reminding everyone that the company launched its first ship, “Le Majestic,” in 1993 just a few months after its establishment.

“GNV has significantly expanded in terms of transport capacity and the services offered to passengers. We currently operate 28 ships, while four newly built vessels, highly advanced in terms of technology and environmental standards, will be available by the end of 2026. The first ‘GNV Polaris’ will arrive at the end of the year,”she noted.

And to add: “The company invests both in its internal organization and in all the ports where it operates in terms of facilities to improve its services and operations. Moreover, as part of our development strategy, we have decided to make

new investments in Tunisia (a historic and solid market for GNV), whether in terms of port facilities or services.

Our goal is always to improve, which is why we aim to reach 260,000 passengers transported from Tunisia via Genoa, Civitavecchia, and Palermo by the end of the year, which is 10,000 more than in 2023.

In her detailed presentation, Montarsolo also specified that GNV aims to meet the demands of an increasingly discerning and diverse clientele, which includes families traveling from central and northern European countries to Tunisia or Morocco, as well as to Spain and the Balearic Islands, Albania, and Sardinia and Sicily.

It was also noted that sustainability has always been a key aspect for GNV, which, ahead of its competitors, has invested significant resources (over 90 million euros) to equip a large part of its fleet with more environmentally friendly “scrubber” exhaust systems.

The company has also invested in renewing its fleet, and as mentioned, four new ships are on their way. The first will arrive in the fall, with subsequent deliveries every six months, to be operational by the end of 2026. All new units will sail with more environmentally friendly and efficient propulsion systems that, thanks to modern technologies, will ensure lower consumption and fewer harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

In particular, the environmental impact of the new ships will be reduced by 30% for the first two and by 50% for the third and fourth (powered by LNG) compared to current standard units.

Furthermore, it was also recalled that GNV has significantly invested in recent years in developing its network, particularly for Tunisia, which is among the destinations where the company is expanding the most. This explains the numerous initiatives organized to attract Tunisians, including:

-Absolute adherence to ship punctuality with the establishment of a central control tower in Genoa that monitors the entire GNV fleet 24/7 to ensure compliance.

-The Smooth Operation of Nautical and Port Operations and to Provide…

-The smooth operation of nautical and port operations and to implement corrective actions if necessary to respect the schedules of each stop and each journey.

Ultimately, GNV, which remains…

-The revival of motorized tourism in collaboration with the Tunisian National Tourism Office.

-The revision of all menus for bars, self-service areas, and restaurants on board with suitable (halal) products and the enhancement of services dedicated to families (family lounge).

-Introduction of musical performances on board.

-GNV has recently launched a major overhaul of its loyalty program “myGNV,” aimed at increasing the number of “loyal” passengers by offering them benefits. The company has increased the cashback from 2.5% to 20%. For example, passengers who spend 1,000 euros will receive 200 euros in vouchers to use for future trips.

-GNV has also implemented a WIFI service in partnership with STARLIK developed by Elon Musk.

Ultimately, GNV, which remains one of the leading shipping companies operating in cabotage and passenger transport worldwide, continues to leverage all its strengths to further enhance the services offered to its customers. This is evidenced by the ever-increasing number of passengers reaching record highs year after year.
