GNV(MSC Group)pays tribute toMorocco, the second most important market for the company after Italy, with a special stop in Tangier. This occasion marks the arrival of GNV Orion in the Mediterranean, the new vessel that departed from the GSI shipyard in Canton, China, on April 30. Before heading to Italy, where final adjustments will be completed for a launch at the end of June, the ship made a stop at the Moroccan port: a symbolic gesture to celebrate the imminent start of the major Marhaba 2025 operation (June 5 – September 15) and the strong connection between GNV and the country.

Indeed, the company organized a special event aboard the new GNV Orion, offering an exclusive preview of the ship to a significant audience:representatives from Moroccan and international institutions, key partnersof the company in the region, such as theBanque Populaire du Maroc, localmedia, and in attendance were, among others, GNV’s Managing Director,Matteo Catani, along with the company’s partner in Morocco,Mohammed Kabbaj.

The Italian Ambassador to Morocco, Armando Barucco, stated: “The stop of GNV Orion in Tangier is highly symbolic and highlights the strategic importance that GNV places on the Kingdom of Morocco. This initiative confirms the growing dynamism of economic relations between Italy and Morocco, based on sustained cooperation and a shared vision of sustainable development. GNV’s choice to strengthen the Italian industrial and logistical presence in Morocco fully aligns with the priorities of the Mattei Plan for Africa and our actions. Today, Morocco is one of the main anchor markets for many Italian companies investing in high-value-added sectors such as infrastructure, sustainable mobility, integrated logistics, and renewable energies.”

“I would also like to emphasize the importance of the Marhaba operation, to which GNV has made a significant contribution for several years, providing essential maritime links for millions of Moroccan citizens living abroad, including over 400,000 in Italy. In recent weeks, GNV announced an order for four new LNG-powered ships, which, combined with those under construction, will allow the company to increase its fleet by eight new units between 2025 and 2030. In this regard, during today’s event,Matteo Catani, CEO of GNV, announced to the press significant new investments in the country, anticipating what could

be the future offerings and the hoped-for use of these newly ordered ships in Moroccan trade.
