Maritime Ports in Tunisia: 2% Increase in Commercial Traffic in 2023

Commercial traffic at various Tunisian seaports increased by 2%, rising from 28.7 million tons in 2022 to 29.4 million tons in 2023, according to a statement released on Wednesday by the Ministry of Transport.

This growth is attributed to a 17% increase in bulk liquid traffic, reaching 10.5 million tons in 2023, following a 19% rise in fuel traffic.

Regarding trailer traffic, it remained stable compared to 2022, at around 162,000 rolling units, carrying 2 million tons of goods (down from 2.4 million tons in 2022). In terms of container numbers, there was a slight decrease, dropping from 447,000 twenty-foot containers (carrying 4.1 million tons of goods) in 2022 to 446,000 twenty-foot containers (carrying 3.9 million tons of goods) in 2023.
