The New Port of Safi, also referred to as the Safi-Atlantic Port, began operations in August 2019. It is located on the Atlantic coast, 15 km south of the Port of Safi-City, 130 km from the Jorf Lasfar port, and 280 km from the Agadir port.

  • Purpose: Trade;
  • Road access: National Route 1 connecting the Casa-Agadir axis to the Marrakech-Safi axis;

History:

This key project for the Marrakech-Safi Region was developed as part of the National Port Strategy aimed at 2030, with construction work initiated in April 2013 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God glorify him. The first phase of construction is designed to accommodate bulk carriers delivering coal for the ONE thermal power plant of 2 x 700 MW located 2.5 km to the south.
