Morocco Reelected to the AISM Council: A Major Maritime Asset

04.06.2023 | Rabat, June 3, 2023 – Morocco has been reelected as a member of the Council of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (AISM) for the 2023-2027 term during the 14th General Assembly and its 20th conference held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

As a national member of the AISM, Morocco ran for a seat on the Council among 26 other member states. A promotional campaign was jointly conducted by the Ministry of Equipment and Water and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad. A strong Moroccan delegation participated in the AISM conference and its General Assembly.

Thus, Morocco stands as the only Arab and African country on the AISM Council alongside 23 member states. This reelection reflects the trust Morocco enjoys within the international maritime community and serves as international recognition of the progress made by Morocco in the port and maritime sector, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him.

Morocco’s Reelection Alongside the AISM and Its Member States

Morocco’s reelection, alongside the AISM and its national member states, will enable it to contribute to strengthening its missions and affirming its position within the international maritime community in areas related to maritime navigation safety and marine environment protection.

The Kingdom of Morocco will continue to support the actions undertaken by the AISM, particularly by prioritizing maritime navigation safety in Africa as a key focus of the association’s strategy and embodying its motto « Successful voyages, a sustainable planet. »​
