The summer of 2025 is set to be a busy one for maritime traffic. ThePort of Algiersis implementing enhanced measures to better accommodate the Algerian diaspora. Four concrete actions aim to improve travelers’ experiences and streamline their transit. These arrangements are part of a national effort to facilitate thereturn ofAlgerians living abroad.


Key Innovations at the Port of Algiers for Quick Transit

ThePort of Algiersis introducing aspecial green corridorfor families with children. This allows for expedited passage during boarding and disembarking procedures. Abdelhamid Boulaam, General Director of the Algerian Port Authority (EPAL), stated that this initiative aims to significantly reduce waiting times for the most vulnerable travelers.

EPAL has also deployed aspecial team of security agents. Their mission? To guide passengers, especially those transiting for the first time. They will assist travelers from their arrival at the maritime terminal to their boarding, navigating all administrative steps. This initiative complements the 320 crossings already scheduled by Algeria Ferries for the season.


Enhanced Services and Continuous Operations at the Port of Algiers

EPAL Has Also Deployed a Special Team of Security Agents

To ensure optimal functioning of all facilities, atechnical team is working continuously, 24/7. This measure guarantees immediate intervention in case of malfunctions of elevators, escalators, or display systems. Sofiane Boudaran, CEO of Algeria Ferries, emphasized the importance of this setup for service quality. This new organization was announced during the reception of the Greek ship « El Venizelos, » specially chartered by Algeria Ferries for the summer of 2025.

Finally, severalsales pointshave been established in the maritime terminal. They cater to the essential needs of passengers while they wait. These shops offer drinks and snacks, preventing travelers from leaving the boarding area. This initiative is accompanied by special promotional offers (« El Bahia, » « El Amal, » « El Hana »). They encourage the diaspora to choose Algeria as their vacation destination.


A National Welcome for Algerians Abroad

ThePort of Algiersexpects to welcome nearly 350,000 travelers and 180,000 vehicles this summer. These measures aim to transform the port experience. The Minister of Transport, Saïd Sayoud, stressed the mobilization of all stakeholders. The goal is to « reflect the true image of a country that welcomes its children with pride and honor. » Special attention is also being given to connections with France (200 crossings planned) and Spain (120 crossings).
