
Coordinated Working Session on the Tanit Ship for the Launch of the 2024 Summer Season
On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, a coordinated working session took place aboard the Tanit ship of the Tunisian Navigation Company (CTN), marking the official start of the 2024 summer season. This session, held during the voyage to Marseille from the port of La Goulette, aimed to assess the implementation of recommendations from ministerial working sessions organized by the relevant authorities. These recommendations pertain to the safety of the summer season and the return of Tunisians living abroad. Among the participants were the CEO of CTN, several representatives from the Ministry of Transport, members of the Assembly of People’s Representatives, as well as representatives from the Merchant Marine and Ports Authority, CTN, the Tunisian Transit and Stevedoring Company, and various other stakeholders including Tunisian customs, border police, the Office of Tunisians Abroad, and members of the press.

▫️ Mr. Farhat Zouaghi, CEO of CTN, opened the session, which was chaired by Captain Sofiene Alabouchi, emphasizing the importance the state places on the success of the 2024 summer season. He highlighted the efforts to provide the best conditions for the return of Tunisians living abroad. This includes the implementation of several measures aimed at improving service quality and ensuring the readiness of ships through preventive and periodic maintenance work. He also mentioned logistical and human preparation, as well as coordination with all concerned parties to guarantee the safety of travel.
▫️ On the commercial front, CTN continues to offer preferential rates to Tunisians abroad, such as early booking rates available year-round with discounts ranging from 32% to 52%. Discounts are also applied for families of 3 to 7 members, with reductions between 27% and 40%, the « Corail » rate with discounts from 18% to 45%, and the « Marhaba » rate for pedestrians, valid outside peak periods, offering discounts of 50% to 64%.

▫️ Mr. Zouaghi emphasized the company’s social commitment by dedicating 200 discounted tickets and 300 free tickets for low-income families, in coordination with the Office of Tunisians Abroad.
▫️ In addition to dynamic pricing, Mr. Zouaghi indicated that CTN allows members of the Tunisian diaspora to pay for their tickets in two installments: an initial payment of 15% at the time of booking, with the balance due 45 days before departure.

- The arrangement of an outdoor space dedicated to passengers at the port of La Goulette and the doubling of check-in and passenger control counters from 18 to 36 to facilitate the return of Tunisians.
- The continuation of police and customs procedures aboard the « Carthage » and « Tanit » ships throughout the year to simplify the passage of travelers.
- Regular maintenance of the « Tanit » and « Carthage » ships to ensure the return of Tunisians living abroad under the best conditions.
- The provision of internet services aboard the Tanit and Carthage ships.
