Genoa, March 5, 2024 – GNV (MSC Group) is gearing up for the new season and announces the addition of two new Ro-Pax ships, GNV Sirio and GNV Auriga, to its fleet for Italian routes. The company’s total fleet now consists of 28 vessels serving 31 routes across seven different countries. The Almeria-Nadorroute to Morocco will also open in June.
The two new ships, GNV Sirio and GNV Auriga, can each accommodate over 2,900 passengers and both offer spacious and comfortable areas, including 319 cabins, a relaxation area, two bars, a restaurant, a children’s entertainment space, a shop, elevators on each deck, as well as a designated area for our four-legged friends, ensuring high-quality services for all passengers and crew.
Once essential maintenance operations are completed, and after the ships have been fitted out and painted in GNV colors, they will begin operating in the coming weeks on the company’s Italian routes. Starting March 20, GNV Sirio will operate to Sicily on the Genoa-Palermo-Genoa route, while GNV Auriga will start service to Sardinia on the Genoa-Porto Torres-Genoa route from March 28.
“The addition of these two new units to our fleet is a crucial factor in increasing our capacity in terms of passengers and linear meters transportable, but it also presents an extraordinary opportunity to enhance our presence in the Mediterranean—particularly towards Sicily and Sardinia, two vital routes for our Company—confirming our commitment to strengthening what has always been a key market for the development ofGNV,” stated Matteo Catani, CEO of GNV.
The two sister ships, built in 2003 at the Fincantieri shipyards in Castellamare di Stabia and previously part of the Moby Group fleet, each have a gross tonnage of 39,798 tons and a length of 214 meters.
