Maritime Cooperation: Morocco and Oman Strengthen Their Ties

As part of the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Sultanate of Oman, a high-level delegation from Oman conducted an official visit to Morocco from February 19 to 21, 2024. The purpose of this mission was to explore and understand Moroccan expertise in the fields of maritime transport and logistics.

During this visit, the Omani delegation held several productive meetings with representatives from the Moroccan Ministry. They emphasized the exceptional quality of the bonds of brotherhood and friendship that unite the two nations, while expressing their admiration for the progress made by the Kingdom of Morocco in developing transport and logistics infrastructure. The delegation expressed a strong interest in leveraging Moroccan experience and expertise to strengthen these strategic sectors in their country.

During their stay, members of the Omani delegation, accompanied by Ministry officials, visited several key institutions. These included the Moroccan Agency for Logistics Development (AMDL), the National Company for Transport and Logistics (SNTL), and the National Office of Railways (ONCF). Additionally, two significant meetings were held with officials from the National Ports Agency (ANP) and the national single window for foreign trade procedures, « PortNet, » during which the strategies and achievements of each entity were presented in detail.

The delegation members also had the opportunity to conduct field visits, including to the port of Casablanca, the SNTL logistics zone in Zenata, and the Tangier Med port. These visits allowed the Omani delegates to familiarize themselves with the operations and functioning of these major platforms, thanks to detailed presentations and in-depth explanations.

This mission not only strengthened the ties between Morocco and the Sultanate of Oman but also laid the groundwork for future collaboration in the crucial areas of maritime transport and logistics, paving the way for mutual opportunities for economic development and exchange of expertise.
