Nador: A Brand New Maritime Station to Welcome Moroccan Residents Abroad

The Marhaba 2024 operation is approaching. Jamal Chaarani, the governor of the Nador province, is actively working on the construction of the new maritime station that will accommodate Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) during the summer.

On Thursday, Jamal Chaarani, the governor of Nador province, visited the site to assess the progress of the construction of the new maritime station project in the municipality of Beni Ansar. The project includes the rehabilitation of the maritime station and its surroundings, increasing its capacity, creating recreational areas and administrative service zones, installing a passenger reception lounge, and expanding the border control areas for vehicles and passengers.

The construction project for the new maritime station is part of the investment program of the National Ports Agency. It aims to enhance and modernize the port of Nador while increasing its efficiency and capacity to accommodate passengers and goods. The project will also facilitate the transit of Moroccans residing abroad (MRE). Its estimated cost is around 162 million dirhams, with completion expected by May 31, 2024.

The governor’s visit aligns with ongoing efforts to improve the quality and reception conditions for MREs and to oversee the implementation of key projects in the province, including those aimed at developing and modernizing port infrastructure, it was noted.
